Dentsply Dycal is a rigid, self-setting material designed for pulp-capping (both direct and indirect) and as a protective base or liner beneath dental filling materials. It does not interfere with the polymerization of acrylic or composite restorations. Based on the original Dycal formulation, the Radiopaque Calcium Hydroxide Composition offers enhanced esthetic results and clinically proven performance. Dycal provides improved physical properties, including higher compressive strength and lower solubility, compared to the original Dycal, which is a standard in calcium hydroxide materials. Its fast setting time and excellent handling characteristics have contributed to Dycal being the top-selling calcium hydroxide composition. Additionally, Dycal promotes the formation of secondary dentin.

Instructions for Use

Preparation: Ensure the treated tooth is clean and adequately isolated from moisture before starting.
Mixing: Dycal is supplied as a powder and liquid, which must be combined before use. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for mixing ratios and techniques. Typically, dispense a small amount of powder onto a mixing pad or glass slab and gradually add the required amount of liquid while mixing to achieve a smooth, creamy consistency. Use a spatula to mix the components.
Application: Once mixed, apply the Dycal to the prepared tooth using a suitable dental instrument, such as a spatula or applicator tip, as recommended by the manufacturer. Ensure thorough coverage of the designated area.
Setting: Dycal is a self-setting material that hardens over time. The setting time may vary, so it is important to consult the manufacturer's instructions for the specific product. Allow sufficient time for the material to set fully before continuing with additional dental procedures.
