Indications for Use
This handpiece is primarily used for operative procedures such as removing dental caries or polishing enamel and restorative materials. A straight, slow-speed handpiece is generally used for extraoral adjustment and polishing of acrylic and metals.

Instructions for Use

High-speed handpieces are one-piece units with a slight curve in their design, and they are typically louder in operation compared to slow-speed handpieces. The angulation of the head can vary among different handpieces. The only additional tool used with high-speed handpieces is a bur, a rotary instrument with a friction grip that functions similarly to a drill bit in a drill.

High-speed handpieces rotate at speeds between 180,000 rpm and 450,000 rpm & include a water spray system to cool the handpiece, as they generate significant heat during use. The water helps cool the tooth and prevents overheating of the pulp. Water delivery can be through a multi-port system (with three or four spray points) or a single-port system. A multi-port spray allows for faster cutting.

To lubricate the high-speed handpiece, inject lubricant into the smaller of the two large holes until it starts to flow out. After lubrication, connect the handpiece to the dental unit and run it for about 10 seconds before reuse.
